BHUBANESWAR: With preparations are at full swing for birth centenary celebration of eminent leader Biju Patnaik, chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday unveiled a first day postal cover on the former.
"The special covers would recognise Biju Patniak's contribution to the state and nation. Through the covers the young generation will know more about the legendary leader," said Naveen.
The postal cover with a photograph of the leader has been printed and developed by the India Post to commemorate birth centenary of Biju Patnaik to be celebrated on March 5.

Chief post master general of India Post, Odisha circle Tilak De who was present on the occasion said, "As many as 1000 postal covers of Biju Patnaik will be printed and made available at post offices across the country."

Besides, a series of programmes were organised on the occasion in memory of the former chief minister. Noted painter Baladev Maharatha exhibited five paintings of the late leader depicting different aspects of the leader's personality. A calendar comprising rare photographs of Biju Patnaik was also released on the occasion by Naveen at the event.

A website containing information on Biju Patnaik was also launched with video footages and messages, writings, articles and photographs on him.
