The number of Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, Directors, Deputy Secretaries and Under Secretaries in the various Central Government Ministries/ Departments belonging to SCs, STs and OBCs as on 31.07.2015 is as under:
* Officers were recruited under the general category prior to introduction of OBC quota. Officers recruited under OBC quota are yet to gain the requisite seniority for appointment as Additional Secretary and above.
There is no provision for reservation for posts, either on deputation or on promotion, at Deputy Secretary level and above. For Under Secretary level posts filled up through Central Secretariat Service, extant provisions regarding reservation are adhered to.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Jitendra Singh in a written reply to a question by Dr. Bhalchandra Mungekar in the Rajya Sabha today.
