SALE OF "GOD-JAL" THROUGH POST OFFICES FETCHING A REVENUE TO THE TUNE OF RS.1.5 CRORE

The River Godavari, is the largest peninsular river in India. It is popularly called Dakshina Ganga, and has been in the centre of news for the celebration of pushkarams from 14th July, 2015 to 25th July, 2015 on the lines of Kumbh Mela celebrations.

AP Postal Circle under the leadership of Shri B.V.Sudhakar, Chief Postmaster-General has come forward with a unique idea of offering pushkara teerdham (Pushkara water), the holy water from the River Godavari in the shape of a 500 ml bottle titled 'God-Jal' at a cost of Rs.20/-. For this, the Department has tied up with a local water purifying firm "Sapphire".
The Project was inaugurated by Sri B.V.Sudhakar, CPMG, Andhra Pradesh Postal Circle.

The Press and Media were allowed access to witness the activities at every stage as and when they desired and have praised the Department for bringing Pushkar Teertham titled"God Jal" to their door steps at a very reasonable price. The project met with resounding success and the receipts for booking of entire quantity of 7,36,571 bottles, were sold out in a short span of time. The entire quantity was got delivered to the addressees, fetching a revenue to the Department to the tune of Rs.1,47,31,420/-.
